I read the thread where you said to ditch the activator at 3 years, but what about the other part? how long for that?

John

Not really saying to ditch activator then, as it depends on how it was stored.

The part A if can is flipped over about every month, to keep from settling, could be forever.
What kills part A is if settling gets to hard and can't be mixed back in.

Part A is still well mixed, part B is 3/4 gallon full, not really dark though.

Yes, just mix a little spray two coats and check in a day and then two days to see how the hardening is progressing.

OK
Shot some epoxy on Saturday. I had a sheet metal part for my Mustang hanging around and used that as my test and checked at various times. 6hrs, 18, 27, 34, then 55 hours. What I did was use Solvent based W&G for the initial cleaning , then water based. There was a sticker for the part number and manufacture on one side and you can see the disastrous results of that.

So picture 1:

the scrapes were done with a flat blade screwdriver. You can see at 6 hours it was still a little soft. By 27 hours I did not scrape to metal (I tried to keep the pressure the same) By 55 hours, the scrape was very small,no sign of breaking through.

OK, picture 2 Disaster!

I think this is where the label was stuck. Unfortunately the epoxy did not stick to the metal. Even at 55 hours I could peel it off with the screwdriver.

So 2 questions. Is the epoxy still good? I think so... And what happened in the second picture? i thought I got all the residue off, but I guess not. What works best to get the label residue off?

I should add, it was a little cool for the first 6 hours or so, but above 70 for the remaining time.

Great!! Love this stuff!!

What about the peeling epoxy? What is the best way to remove the sticky labels?

Not sure if it's the "best" way but I use WD-40 to remove sticker glue. Then W&G remover to get rid of the WD-40.

The best sticker remover I have found is either 3M adhesive remover, or Ronsonol Lighter fluid (Naptha)

Neither one leave a silicone like some of the others do.
