Epoxy over 80 grit

I have read on here that you should spray epoxy over 80 grit scratch. If I drop down to 40 grit to get the paint off faster and then go over the metal with 80 grit would that work out ok? My truck has many layers of paint on it and I thought the 40 would take it off faster.

Thanks Barry. I hit it with 80 and it was coming off really slow so I am hoping to speed up the process. The truck has been painted 5 times that I know of so it has lots of mills on it.I would like to sandblast it but dont have a blaster or access to one.I found some paint remover pads I can use on my grinder and they work well but dont last very long.Looks like I will have to get a big package of 40 grit discs for the da and go to work. Thanks again, you have a great forum here.

The razorblade usually takes off the last 3 paint jobs or so, as you get to factory paint it usually doesn't and then you jump to the 80 grit. I use a heavy blade like in a sheetrock knife clamped in vise grip pliers, works better than the flimsy single edge blades.

just buy a razor blade scraper knife. the secrete is the thin blade will separate layers. just keep a fresh blade in it .

Thanks guys,I have a couple of those scrapers . We have some at work with about a 4 inch blade that we use to clean the lights in our paint booth, maybe they will let me borrow one and see how it does .

I just use a razorblade scrapper that takes a standard single edge razor blade. buy a 100 count box and as Shine says, change them out often..
