Epoxy on brake rotors?

Will epoxy hold up decent on brake rotors? I have a set I would like to coat to keep the non friction surfaces from rusting.

I know this will be kind of a hard area for it but I was just curious if anyone else had done it before I tried. Thanks.

Good to hear. I love this epoxy, it looks great, and if it ends up ok in a harsh applications like these all the better.

I guess I'm running kind of a torture test.

i guess i should have mentioned i masked off the contact surface lol. hopefully that just wears off without causing issues.

I would hope that the intention is to lightly lathe turn them after cure? I'd consider it mandatory.

Yes I planed on removing the epoxy where the disc to pad contact is. I would have masked but I wanted to get all the slots and dimples coated as they will stay black.

Thanks for bringing it up, I hadnt planned on mentioning cleaning the friction surfaces. It clears up any confusion.

I remember reading about a shop that did that routinely. They said even brand new rotors usually needed truing up, so they just sprayed away.

Finally got around to buffing the friction surface of the rotors, I was able to maintain a nice coat of epoxy in the slots and dimples. So far they look great, maybe this fall Ill be lucky enough to get this thing out and put some heat in them.

I spent 7 years managing an auto supply, we ALWAYS turned new rotors and drums. You'd be surprised how off they could be, and it wasn't just the cheap china stuff either.
