epoxy inducing.. grey vs black

U

underdog

I will get lots of settled epoxy on the bottom of mixing cups when inducing grey epoxy, never had the same issue with black.

Any body know why?

I never had this problem till recently the last 2 gallons we got have been the same way

I shot some overnight induced epoxy today and it settled everytime I went to refill my gun, about every 20 min??

I would expect settlement if left overnight. Plus, the tech sheet states to mix again before pouring into paint cup. I would mix regardless to make sure it's all together.

Of course we mix it after it sits or else we wouldn't know that it settled out, its just the fact that ive sprayed at least 30 gallons of it and never had it settle out in a very short time (15 minutes) until the last 2 gallons purchased

I was not going to say anything about this issue until I saw this thread. I had mixed up epoxy primer off and on for over a year. I would let it induce 30 mins to a couple of hours. It would have a very thin film of dark color on the top and no settling at all. The product was stirred and shot. After receiving a new batch of gray epoxy I did the very same thing and noticed the dark ring on top was probably ¼” think and there would be ½” of solid material accumulated on the bottom. It was stirred up and shot. It seemed to shoot OK but there was definitely a difference in appearance and texture of the induced product.

thickens up some . builds better .

Is that for if you are using epoxy as a build primer vs. a direct to metal sealer?

Thanks...Al
