Epoxy goo?

What's this clear thick honey like goo that oozes out around
my epoxy primer cans? It's real nasty to clean off.
Should I be storing my epoxy cans upside down,
would that keep it from happening.
I've had it on brand new unopened quart cans and
ones that are months old.

Sounds like resins coming through poorly crimped can bottoms. I stock around 100-150 cans of SPI products (distributor) and I've never seen it on my cans. I did see it once in a case of Upol products, seemed to be a can batch issue.

Do you have large temp swings where they're stored? Upside down does give them self sealing if the lids aren't 100% air tight.

Put those plastic rings or the small metal clamps on it . Might work , might not. Worth a try.

Reminds me of Steve Martin's The Jerk movie.
"It's these Cans, somebody hates these Cans".

A Barry question for sure.

Only Cans I ever had a problem with was one old gallon of Universal Clear that was stuck inside my cabinet after sitting 10 years and some resin seeped out of the bottom seam at some point.
I've have qt's of SPI Base bubble out the lid a bit after opening but never Epoxy.
Interesting.
