epoxy dash before trim paint?

I will try to keep this brief. I am getting ready to paint my dash and from what I have read the sem trim black paint is a really good dash paint match for a 68 mustang. When I read the instructions on the sem paint it says no primer is needed. Does this mean that the trim paint will seal the metal from any future rust or should I put a coat of some epoxy black on first that I have?

I have sprayed a bunch of smaller pieces and my engine bay so far with the epoxy and haven't had any problems yet, but I am super new to paint and don't really understand all the different types and uses. Is it possible for me to just knock the shine off the epoxy a bit making it look more like the matte black? so far all I have done is just the straight 1:1 mix with the activator. Is the spi matte black more durable than the epoxy black?

thanks,
adam
