Enough scratch for epoxy?

Got some hard to reach areas on a car that i've stripped with a maroon 3" scotchbrite disc on an angle grinder. Can I go to epoxy over that or should it have more scratch?

I'm not a fan of the scotch brite discs for metal prep. They tend to polish the surface to a shiny and smooth texture. I would use an 80 grit 3" pad to finish it up. Or if you don't have any, just scratch it up with 80 grit by hand to finish it off. A spot blaster would work even better.
