Dynabrade sanding pad curled edges??

Last time I used my Dynabrade sander I noticed the original 6” sanding pad had slightly curled edges. Ordered a couple new pads the other day, one hook & loop and the other for psa discs. The hook and loop looks fine but the medium density pad for psa discs is curled just like my original. Maybe the original was always curled and I didn’t notice. However, it seems like it should be perfectly flat…. The outside starts curling around 3/32” from the edge, leaving the outside raised at least 1/32 all the way around. It’s not soft enough that the weight of the sander flattens it.
Is this typical? I know it won’t make a difference for 180 or 220 but what about higher grits? Are they all like this or should I be sending it back?

It should be flat, I sell Dynabrade pads as well as 3M and many cheaper ones, and all of mine are flat in their packages. Are they curled up, away from the work, or down, into the work? I would not worry about it if it's up, but down will probably leave a pattern or at least rip the sandpaper early.

No, it’s curled down so the edges would be applying more pressure to the work and coming in contact before the center of the pad. I know often you don’t want to use any pressure other than the weight of the sander, and with edges curled that will be the main contact point…
Was pretty sure it should not be like this but wanted confirmation. Thank you.

Time for a new pad. The PSA pads do that as they age. Why? IDK. You can try using some sandpaper and knocking the edge down. It works if it's not too drastic. But best course of action is a new pad from someplace that sells a lot of pads. I've gotten new pads that had been on the shelf for a while that had the same issue with the edge. So go to a Paint Jobber and look at it before you get the pad.
Store you DA with it sitting on the pad. Don't ever store it on it's side. Upside down is OK but I've noticed that the PSA pads will tend to curl in that position as well.

Yeah, my old one was always stored on a nice flat surface so it would not get deformed. I figured the old one curled from use and the heat, etc. I already initiated the return for this old one. I have nowhere close that sells anything like that up in Ga where I do my painting. I’ll have to do some searching and see if I have anywhere down he near our house in FL where I can find one before I head back to GA next week.
I stuck some abrasive paper to the bed of my table saw and “re-flattened“ the old one before using it last time but it was curled again the next day…

Or the Foam their made of turns to a sticky, flakey, crumbly pos.
ALL my da pads went South after years of storage. My foam buffing pads too.
Guess their petroleum based .

Yeah, the backing pads for my old Porter Cable polisher/buffer completely disintegrated literally into dust.
