drain holes?

I had to replace the cab corners on my 2013 ford f150 and while getting advice on here there was mention of the drain holes in the rockers. While I was under there I saw there were no holes.

Should there be? Should I drill a few, or would that makes things worse?

Also while under there I noticed the frame rails had large holes in the sides with a piece of tape over each one. What is this all about?

Thanks

Perhaps you are looking for a round hole? Words are escaping me ATM but on that truck and most vehicles the "hole" is a small indentation in the outer skin in several spots along the length of the rocker or cab corner in this case. When it's joined with the inner rocker it creates a gap there of sorts. That's your hole. Take a look again and you will see them. :)

There won't be any drain holes or stamped areas on the rocker on the 09-14 F150, but the drain gap openings will be in the inner rocker panels. They usually become plugged with dirt, leaves , and mouse nests within a year of driving. If you are replacing the rockers, that is a good time to enlarge the drain holes, otherwise, best to leave them as is. It is a good practice to blast a garden hose into the inner rocker area a few times a year to clear that crap out.
The taped holes in the frame are likely unused access holes for options yours doesn't have, or possibly needed for assembly line access to install some type of bracket. Very common to see those taped from the factory.
