Do I have to clear the whole hood.

I sprayed my hood today, I straightened out the epoxy problem from an earlier thread. Well the clear was dry enough to start to wet sand I came across 2 big dust spots in the clear. They are right were you cab see them. I tried to sand them out but don't want to break through to the color. Can I just air brush some color over the dust specks and then just clear that area. I really don't have enough clear to do the whole hood.

I guess you could always try to sand the spots away without breaking to the basecoat, if you do then it's a given you will have to shoot more color then blend the clearcoat into the hood.

If you sand them out of the clear and think it won't have enough mills, you could reclear that section without having to worry about shooting color again. Hope that made sense.

How many coats and what clear did you use? Also, what grit are you sanding with?

I personally wouldnt spot in clear on a hood. I'm sure some have done it with success but when you melt the edge you are going to have a thin edge that is going to get hammered by the sun constantly and it will show back up eventually. Sometimes when you have mistakes you just gotta suck it up and do it right! I screw up constantly, lol!

3 coats of UV is a good amount if you laid it out wet. If you are sanding with 1200 or 1500 you have a ways to go before you cut through, just be careful.

but I must advise, I am probably the last person you want to take advice from so lets wait for some of the pros to respond!

Yes, that was my disclaimer!!!!

Unfortunately the mark was close to the base and I went thru. I will be doing both panels over again.
