DeWalt polisher

Three years ago I bought a Bauer 7 inch polisher/sander at Harbor Freight. I thought "I know it's not top notch, I'll use it till it dies and then get a good one."

It worked great but finally died.

So, time for the "Good One."
Ordered a DeWalt DWP849X. It was $207 on Amazon.
It arrived today and looks awesome.
But on close inspection it looks identical to the Bauer. In fact I'm sure I could swap parts back and forth. Only difference is yellow vs. red.

But hey, its a DeWalt. Must be 4X better and worth 4X the price. I'm sure of it. No question. Right?

I have the same Dewalt. Nothing special, works as it should. I took the clunky handle off though. It's light enough that you can put your hand on the head to guide it. Much lighter than the old Milwaukee I used to use. That was a heavy machine.:)

Sounds like the old buffer I had. You actually had to almost hold it off the panel because of the weight.
I have that same DeWalt sander buffer and like it a lot. The variable speed trigger actually works so you can start out slow and increase your speed as needed. I set the rpm adjustment to the max speed I want so a full trigger press puts me there.

My experience with Chinese Horrible Freight products was brief and very disappointing.

i have a dewalt here. its the old style. good quality tool but its so heavy. i just put a psa pad on it for sanding because i couldnt stand buffing with it. hopefully this new style is lighter. my makita that i have had for 20 years also is half the weight. maybe 6-years ago i switched to a metabo then a small flex, now the makita feels heavy compared to those. they arent swinging a full size pad though. 6in for them so on something big they are slower.

I've been using a Dewalt for a lot of years and it just keeps going.
It is to loud for me, next buffer I'm getting a quieter one.
