Cool temps and IR lamp

I have a medium wave infratech lamp like most of us prob do on here. Temps can be hard to maintain 70 this time of year. Question is…to speed up a job(collision work)…can I use my lamp on a complete bumper and deck lid? New bumper and used deck lid. The bumper would be on a stand so I would have to get the center warm then switch to the sides. Same with decklid warm the rear then the top. I figure get the panels up to temp first. Then use it again after my base. And again after my clear to help it cure quick. Yes the job is kinda time sensitive and just a cheap make it shiny pocket pay job. Is this ok? Am I overthinking this? I have dbc base, euro clear with med activator and 870 reducer. No polar or speed clear on hand. Thanks for any advice!

Your plan is perfect, and the more you play with the lamp, the more you will learn all the tricks.

Yes, carefully and slowly.
Another tremendously cheap investment that would be better for warming up products is a heat plate with a thermostat.

This is what I use. The hairdryer will heat the product up fast. Almost too fast but that's usually from me being distracted. I also put my tapes and paint guns in there to warm them too. The lightbulb is 150w and keeps things at a pretty good temp. Anything longer than 20 min and cans start to swell.

The heat lamp also works good on heating body fillers to set faster
in cool weather, but be careful not to overheat because it will cause
problems later down the road.

Oh I bet that get toasty in there quick! Works good for you I’m sure.

I use a similar setup for pre-heating and "baking" parts that are shot with wrinkle paint to get a tighter/more even wrinkle pattern, and to speed up paint drying on small parts.

Great idea! What kind of parts are you doing?
