Clear over pin stripe tape?

Is this done in a repair situation? I have a truck bed side to color spot/blend and wanted to clear the whole panel but have never done pin tape and can't get an exact match to the existing anyway.
Thoughts?
 
It's been done, but we wouldn't. Rolls of stripe tape are cheap, and if an exact match isn't available, we stripe the whole side with the customer's authorization.

Isn't there a mobile vinyl guy around you that can take care of this?
 
I'm sure there is Crash, a thread here the other day talking about clearing over a decal got me thinking so figured I'd ask.....thanks
 
I outlined a flame job with tape and cleared over it on my tbucket about 8 years ago. Sold it since but I saw it last fall and it looked as good as the day I cleared it.
