**Clear on Intake Manifold**

I'm picking up a new aluminum intake manifold for my mustang, any thoughts on clearing with universal ??,(in regards to longevity, discoloration, etc, etc,)
Thanks guys.

I have acquired an original L88 factory aluminum intake for my 454, and new aluminum heads and the temptation was to clear them but, if there is failure of the clear it would be a mess, so I'm leaving as is.

Will it stick, yes, how long--anyones guess.
Will it yellow--should not be an issue.
I just would not do it but it sure would look nice.

Is it a polished one? I assume you want to clear it to retain the polished look?

Not polished, just want it to look new for a long time. This is on a Sunday driver.

the exhaust cross over will bake it off the center runner. if sbc . we use the block off gaskets down here. no need to heat the carb.

I've tried urethane clear a few times and it never holds up, and if done over a blasted surface it will make the aluminum look grey. Powdercoating does work well if you have access to that. Or prime with two coats of epoxy and paint it the color or your choice-the epoxy will hold on for a very long time.

The last one I cleared, I ended up blasting it off and painting it with 2 coats of black epoxy, like the rest of the engine. I'm satisfied with the look. The exhaust crossover must be blocked as shine states.
