Clean proir to sanding??

Happy Monday!

Sorry if this is dumb question, but I was reading in another forum that you should always prep your vehicle with a wax/oil remover before sanding. Honestly I have always washed my vehicles with soap and water before I start, but I have never used a prepping spray before sanding. The only time I use a prep wax/oil remover is prior to prime, seal, and paint. I tac rag everything else before I clear.

The idea is to not sand in any contaminates. I like to use W&GR in addition to washing to make sure I'm not driving in any wax or whatever could be on the surface.

Dawn dish soap is all I ever needed.
I wash it before I start anything and then again before painting
