Clay pads for a buffer?

Has anyone here used a clay buffing pad? I didn't even know they existed until I was searching clay towels on Amazon. Seems that if they work they'd be a lot easier than a bar.

funny you just posted this. i just bought a 6" one for a da last week. also used for a small ro buffer as well. looks just like a soft interface pad. i used it yesterday to get off all the overspray from my truck. popped it on my sander and did the whole truck in 30 min and took off everything. it was a cheap 10$ too from amazon. no need to get a pricy big name one.

excuse my ignorance. this is for cleaning? how can a pad be made of clay?
on this subject, i have a problem with mold on almost every thing out here. i believe is called artillery mold? black specs. i have failed so far on every attempt to totally remove it with out destroying paint.

Hmm worked that well eh? I thought they seemed kinda fishy. Maybe I’ll try one. I do have a clay mitt and it’s so much easier than a coat bar. Can clay a vehicle quick after a wash, foam it again and go over it with the mitt…all done.

I think the black specs are called shot gun fungus. They are tar like black specs.I think they come from your mulch. I read about this a few years ago...Soo, read up on shot gun fungus..Yes a "biooo..tch" to get rid of

yeah, i have read about it. and yes, shotgun mold, artillery mold, same thing. thing is, theres no mulch here lol. simple green is about the best i found but it wont get rid of all of it. purple power.........well you know that aint good for paint.

I just went ahead and ordered one for $19 on Amazon. I mainly want to see if it helps get overspray off panels I was too lazy to cover!

Thanks for the hint as I am a big clay fan and had not heard of the pads or mitts?
Have ordered two mitts and the 6" pad mentioned up thread to give it a try!

The nice thing about the new non traditional "clay" is that if you drop it, it's not ruined. Rinse it off and keep going.

Ok, IT'S MAGIC! I used it on overspray clear dust that I couldn't get to compound off or 3000 grit Buflex off. I used my wet sanding lube, (water with a little Dawn dish soap), and it worked great. So rewarding when something works!!!

This morning I used it with my orbital buffer but think I'm going to try the DA to get better results against edges/trim. The orb is just too wild for close to trim to be as effective. I may also try a little less Dawn as it was getting pretty soapy, maybe too slick? IDK.
