Clausen and G2 body poly primer question.

Does anyone know if Evercoat G2 is water/moisture proof? Clausen literature states that it's product is water/moisture proof. I have searched for specs on G2 but, they don't say their product is water/moisture proof.

Anyone know,

Waterproof is an interesting term for a poly primer. If you spray it with epoxy on both sides then it doesn’t matter. Clausen pushes their product as direct to metal but general guidance on this forum is poly on epoxy in the recoat window.

My biggest concern with a poly primer is how easily it sands. Don’t want something that sands like concrete.

I did not know Clausen was a direct to metal primer. The reason I ask about these two products is........my car may sit until fall before I spray sealer, bc/cc. I wanted to use a product that won't absorb moisture while sitting before D-Day. It's good information about its sanding characteristics.

My plan was to get the car in poly, sand it down to 400. Then when it comes time for sealer, sand the car one more time with 600.

Please correct me if this is not a viable method.

If the car is kept in your garage then it shouldn't be an issue. If you are concerned, then just do all of your blocking and just shoot a coat or 2 of epoxy over top of it and prep that before paint. Then its a none issue.

If I leave a car long term in Clausens I leave it unsanded. It has a shiny skin that will prevent anything from being absorbed.

Yes, the car is stored in the garage. You've given me a viable solution to my situation.

Thank you,

Direct to metal is marketing hype for collision shops. Don’t use anything but epoxy on bare metal

I have a car that has been sitting outside for the last 15years, honestly scared to know what is under the poly. It was Clausens.
