Classic car insurance

What do you guys suggest for classic/custom car insurance, hagarty i'm going to assume? I know their is also grundy.. Any feedback from these companies???

Haggerty won't insure you if you drive your car at all to work, the grocery store, etc, even on rare occasions.

I have American Collectors on my stuff. I've never had a claim, so I can't give you much more info on it. They say I am covered for an occational drive to work, or the store.

Haggarty denied me due to having nitrous. Although I was just trying to insure an 86 mustang.

I just talked to haggarty and they stated they don't like to insure older than 89, but I have to submit application and info and then they will let me know for sure, progressive offers a aggreed value policy as well but that's not a guarantee'd pay out like haggarty, if they think they can replace it for 25k they will pay that amount even if you are paying for a 30k policy.

I tried american as well, they said no as well, may have to take chances with progressive if I get denied by haggarty after I fill out the application.

Chad,

What are you insuring?

I have all my cars, motorcycle and Home insured under Country Company (COUNTRY Financial) and have not had any problems when we had to submit any claims.

Project sidetracked, I know it may be a tough one but i'd like to get the best coverage that I can, so i'm going to try a few places, so far the agreed value by progressive seems the best, geico said they dropped their custom and classic insurance program, I am going to try to reach grundy as well.

from what i've seen online there is a place called classic auto insurance, I did their online quote and it shows $815. for a full year of insurance, from what I can tell they offer a agreed value policy if the vehicle is not considered classic, if totaled the agreed value is what is to be paid, if it can be fixed for any amount under, the vehicle is to be fixed, needs to be stored indoors to qualify, I was hoping to store in trailer for a few months in the winter but that is not allowed, other than that it seems worth a phone call, they are closed for the day. Haggarty is about $1,100.00 for my agreed value, but that's only if I'm approved.

I called progressive back and found a way to insure it how I would like it to be insured, it took a while for her to go through it but for me to insure it the way I would like would be about 6k per year, good lord for that i'll build another one.. lol.

I may just take my chances with plpd. lol.

Quoted!

"If Grundy is your choice for insuring your classic cars, you can take advantage our agreed value policies and outstanding service to insure your daily drivers as well. Click "Apply Now" to find out if Multiple Vehicle Insurance from Grundy is right for you."

Talked to a guy that uses grundy, he said half the cost of haggarty, i'm going to look into them, and from what is quoted above it sounds like they may be a option for me, I may have to ask about my daily's as well, maybe I can get a multi-car discount.

I have grundy on my antique truck and my wifes hot rod, tthey have great prices. I've never had a claim though, but I sure like their prices compared to others.

We have two of our cars insured with grundy. Been happy so far. They do have some restrictions like some other classic car insurance companies. Found them to be more reasonable to deal with as well as being less money for premium for year of coverage.

I have Hagerty and is was easy dealing with them on a project car. I declared a value and they insure to that value. Just an application and a few pics to back up the fact that it appears as described, and it's done. I thought that the rate was good based on my multi-car policy. My sister-in-law works for a local agent and she recommended Hagerty. Hope it helps.

BTW, you can increase coverage as needed as the declared value of the project increases.

It's not old enough for haggerty's coverage, unless I meet one of their exceptions. I will find that out if I don't go with grundy.

One company said 89, another said 92, making headway, grundy is looking decent and a place called american modern is looking even better at just over $400 for a yr.
