I was flipping through the tv channels last night and came acrost Overhaulin. They were doing an AMC Amx... Upon reveal, the gloss of CC was amazing. Out of curiosity, i wonder what paint system they use?...Im sure they had 7(plenty) folks sanding and polishing for how ever long it took..Also appeared to be a generous amount of led lighting above..I feel his work is top-notch! Net worth $18-$20M

Speaking of Foose, I told my wife that there needs to be a show similar to Ask This Old House but for people working on cars. Have experts give short visits to personally help with a particular issue on a build. No drama like so many car shows seem to have.

The manufactured drama and "deadlines" ruin every car related fix up show for me. I guess the idiot TV execs figure the average joe schmo won't watch without it.

Though I agree Foose is talented, we have members here who are just as talented. if not even more talented. What makes SPI members stand out over the tv show fabricators is their willingness to help others with detailed information on how to do something, ie; mig welding / tig welding, spraying paints and trouble shooting. Step by step instructions. you just don't get that with tv shows.

I really like AAE's idea above ^^^.............it would make for a great hour long program showing how to do something step by step.

Chip has been in the game for a long time. His Dad Sam Foose ran a hot rod shop and Chip started there as a kid. Chip is more a designer than anything else although he can do some of the work. His style is very unique. He relies on a crew of guys to build the Ridler cars. He worked for Boyd back in the 90's and Boyd Coddington never forgave him for leaving his Shop to work on his own. That should tell you something about Boyd.

Personally his designs/stuff doesn't really appeal to me but there is no denying what he has done. The Overhaulin cars are a different story though. Those cars are slammed together and look nice on TV but when you look at one, you will see flaws. I have seen several and they all had terrible sand scratches showing due to the shrinkage of the paint. Stuff gets slammed on there to make the deadline. Looks good for a while till the solvents start coming out completely. Not trying to take anything away from Chip. He's really prolific and has done a lot for the aftermarket car industry. Just not a fan of Overhaulin'.

Most of those TV shows are just garbage. I had a few buddies race on the street outlaw program a few times and they said the production crews had no clue about anything car related.

The only car show that I have been able to watch and enjoy was Chasing Classic Cars. I loved Roger the old man in the Shop who could fix anything mechanical and get any old car running again after sitting for years. They also showed a lot of the work involved but there was no BS deadlines or fake drama. Interesting watching Carini take a car to the auctions as well. Plus they showcased a lot of different cars. Not just one style, or muscle cars etc. I like the really old stuff and the Euro stuff and Carini had lots of those on the show.
