Can I wet sand white base coat before clear?

Fastback

Please forgive me as I am learning here, but I know that if I sand on my semi-metallic I must recoat with more of the same, but is that the same for the white stripes that are gm arctic white? All of my base is metalux paint.

I ask because my stripes are on top of uv clear and I will sandwich the stripes in more clear but I may want to sand out edge transitions etc...

It's always a good idea to put more base on top of sanded base. You might be OK on a color like white, but any time you disturb the pigments there is a chance that marks will show through the clear. If you feel you must wetsand the basecoat, get a gallon of SPI intercoat and put a couple coats on as your last two coats of base. It sands real nice and won't show marks.

Thanks. I dont really "need" to sand, but I wanted to know before I NEEDED to know, ya know...

My next project will use intercoat, I am finding more and more reasons to have it in the cabinet these days.

I am just learning about the SPI Intercoat. I did not even realize Barry had it available....how cool.....
