Boots, work footwear.

What do you guys like, recommend for work boots? My favorite Carolinas were discontinued. I haven't found anything I really like since. I tried a pair of Redwings, most expensive boots I ever bought, and they killed my feet. Nothing like throwing away a pair of $170 boots that are 2 months old. Looking for ideas.

I have had great luck with my Redwings, surprised they were bothering your feet...maybe the wrong type of boot for the work you were doing?

I get mine at Sears. I have a pair of Craftsman and I'm on my 3rd pair of DeWalts. The last me a little more than a year and I'm a big guy. I wear gym shoes out in a month!

i have worn wolverine boots for 40 years. best work boot i ever found. if not in the shop i wear justins .

I have worn them before, they were comfortable, but I only got about 6 months out of the soles. I think the price was reasonable, I'll see what they have.

Have a pair of Wolverines for shop work, a pair sneakers for play and 6 pairs of cowboy boots for everything else from horseback riding to preaching. Most comfortable footwear I own.

Birkinstock sandals if I can, otherwise Cabellas' hiker boots, $59.95.

Really? I'm curious what Redwing boot it was. I would think any reputable Redwing dealer would adjust or replace the boot for something that worked for you.
I have been wearing steel toe Redwing boots for 37 years and really haven't found anything more comfortable.
I'm standing on concrete 8-10 hrs a day

These, http://www.redwingshoes.com/red-wing-shoe/1206-red-wing-shoes/1206-red-wing-mens-6-inch-boot-brown. They killed my feet. I have very high arches, so I was told, these boots had a high bump in the center and hard insoles. This caused the tendons in my feet to strain. Plantarficiatis, I think they called it. My Dr. had me get rid of the boots. I wore them about 2 months. I'm a mechanic in a dealership. i spend lots of hours on my feet too. I do trans work, seems like ATF really beats up the soles. Its hard to find boots that will hold up. A few guys in the shop said Redwings have been going down hill. I don't know that, this was my first and likely last, pair.

I have two pairs of wolverines steel toes and I love them, the one pair is four years old and wife bought me a new pair for Christmas but the old pair is just getting broken in and I cannot part with them.

We are forever man handling 55 gallon drums, some of these drums are as light as 360lbs and some are in the high 600 lbs range, these boots have saved me many of times, when I have lost control.

These things are more comfortable then tennis shoes, in my opinion.

Im a Wolverine guy myself.. 17 years I have worn them daily almost.. I love em.. No tennis shoe has ever kept my foot feeling as good.. I prefer the wedge sole.. I dont like heels on my boot...The wedge I always felt was a little more safe as far as trip hazards and since I wear them for years, I feel gives more arch support over time..

Sorry to hear they aren't working for you. don't know about ATF , but i know mine get pretty soaked with cutting oil in the machine shop where I work.
I average two years out of a pair of Red wings easy ,and probably could go three to four , but don't because of company replacement policy.

The most comfortable boots I have are made by Bates and they are military surplus. I've had bad luck with Carolina-soles seperating. Herman Survivors have been indestructable and economical.

Were they 6 inch high? I dont know of any military boots that are less than 8. My hunting boots are 8 inch, which is ok for a little while, but would bother me 40+ hours a week. My nephew is in the Army, he had to buy his own boots, from the militarys selection. They are Danner. He loves them. I just got some new Carolinas. They have been good to me, and I got a coupon so I went for them. Not bad so far, definately some breaking in to be done. I was real close to getting the boots Shine suggested, but no one local had them.
