Black Epoxy in Engine Compartment?

S

Stillboardin

I am getting ready to spray my engine compartment of my 68 Mustang with Black Epoxy. My thinking is to leave it epoxy only and not top coat it as the black epoxy appears to be very close to the original black.

Would this hold up over time. Or do I need to add a top coat?

This car will be a fair weather driver and not a trailer queen so durability is a priority.

Has anyone else done this?

That's all my Fairlane will have is black epoxy

That's what we did with this customers 66 Mustang

The epoxy is your best bet, there is NO SS paint you can buy in this market that will be as strong or chemical resistant.

This is best choice if car is driven daily or a trailer queen.

Sweet!!!!!!! I just did this very thing on my POS Mustang project!!!!!!!

Glad I found this as I am stripping the firewall and inner fenders on the Camaro I am working on now. Sounds like a good way to go.

Its what I always use.. I dont offer any other options for the blacked out engine compartments lol..

U can taylor the gloss by how you spray it and reducer selection!

Have been spending a lot of time restripping the body to get the rust converter off but finally got to lay down the first coat of black epoxy today on the firewall and frame. This is not a restoration otherwise it would have came completley apart but rather just a decent driver type of repaint.

I need to get a water seperator and clean the shop before I spray any more but at least have the bare metal protected now.008.jpg
