Best gun for clear coats?

I have an LPH 400 which is great for base but seems slow for clear. I would like a faster gun, something that feels more like my old JGA502.

What is the best fast gun for clear, that is not a total air hog ?

A lot of this has to do with how a painter paints, so there is no right answer that fits everyone.

I like the Sata RP for the bigger jobs when spraying clear, too me the LPH and RP are just a perfect combination.

"Not a total air hog" killed the SATA RP idea. The faster guns like the SATA RP and the DeVilbiss Plus are going to fall into that category. IMHO

i use an iwata w-400 . comparable to the sata rp. At the same time, my compressor is also able to handle 2 of them going at one time in the booth. I dont believe these guns are as much air hogs as some of the older ones...like the sata 90's.

My compressor is an Ingersoll-Rand SS3L5 rated at 18.1 @ 90psi. 60 gallon vertical tank, 230v/22.6 amp motor.
Is this enough air to satisfy an rp type spray gun?

The Sata 3000 K RP says it uses 15.2 CFM at 36-43 psi.
The Sata 3000 B RP says it uses 10.4 CFM at 29-36 psi.
The DeVilbiss 670 Plus says it uses 9.0 CFM at 30 psi.
The Iwata W-400 (1.4 tip) uses 10.5 CFM at 20 psi.

I believe the general rule of thumb is to have a compressor capable of 1.5 times (minimum) the required CFM usage for your gun.
