Anyone ever drill out a fluid tip?

I would drill it out, if you know the drill size for 2.2 tip. What do you got to loose you got two of 1.8 tips.

A drilled orifice is going to be a lot sloppier than the finely machined hole in the original fluid tip. While a drilled orifice might not be too bad for something like Slick Sand, there's a good chance that you won't be able to achieve a seal unless you use some type of lapping compound, which would make the needle unusable except as a mate to that particular nozzle.

I had it done on a lathe so we could line the larger hole up exactly where the old one was, I think it's going to work. Sprayed a pattern with some thinner, looks ok, no drips with the trigger not pulled. Now, do I need to sand my 72 hour old epoxy before spraying on the SS? That's what I came back to the forum to research, lol.

No, you are good at 72 hrs. for non-sanding application. Sometimes I have found slight adhesion problems with filler after 72 that a scuff takes care of, but the poly primer is way more aggressive and will definitely bite into the epoxy.

I drilled out the fluid nozzle on a dry wall hopper gun to be able to shoot cement stucco, probably doesn't apply to this topic, LOL.

I have a few cheapy guns that I drilled years ago, it worked fine for primer

and sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get the job done

i bought the vaper 2.3 to just use for epoxy/primer on one job. surprisingly it lasted 4 years. the pattern went away so i bought another gun from tcpglobal. 45 bucks . if i forget and leave slicksand in it i can just toss it .
