Air Compressor Room

I did a search but did not come up with anything. What are everyones thoughts on boxing in your compressor to quiet the shop down? I am thinking about doing this but my concern would be trapping all the heat in the room, no fresh air, etc.

My plan was to build a room that is no bigger than a ft wider than my compressor. I was going to put some vents towards the top of the room and thought about maybe getting a fan or louver set up to open when the compressor ran and 10 minutes after it shut down to bring fresh air in and exhaust the hot air out. I do have 50ft of air line from compressor to my air dryer then into my booth. I've never had issues with water in my lines.

Has anyone done a compressor room to quiet things down in the shop? Has there been down side to it as far as compressor performance?

Removing the heat will be the main thing, your plan with the vents and fan should be enough. Have you thought about simply running the air inlet to the outside of the shop? Much of the noise of my compressor was eliminated by doing that. I used 1.5" iron pipe, with a large lawn mower muffler screwed on the end as a filter for bugs.

yes, whatever you do make sure there is plenty of air flow to and around the compressor. I overheated my compressor at my old house and thought I started my garage on fire.

I love hearing my air compressor run, and my air compressor knows that. My air compressor shows its love for me every time my wife comes into the garage to talk to me...........it fires up and starts running drowning out everything the wife has to say.

True love at its finest :D

I built a little room outside for my compressor. Cooling fan and vents keep it happy. All I hear is a hum.

Ive thought about adding a lean to but live in South Dakota, the summers are a scorcher and the winters are brutal. The only spot I would be able to do the compressor room is on the south side of the building. Summer time would be wild temp heats in that room.

Compressor rooms... Rest rooms.… I‘m going to have to up my shop game! :D

Don
It's not very pleasant to be caught in there when compressor kicks on....
