How about two Hemi's?

More or less yes. Likely won’t be as anal about finding original bits and pieces that run the costs up and few care about.
If you do and it only fetches $25-30k then you are restoring the wrong vehicle imho. I know it’s a cheap project but your time has to be worth a decent wage. You would be better off restoring Mopar muscle cars that fetch big money. Sure the project cars are expensive but they easily sell for six figures when restored. You could be the Ken Sungela of Mopars. :)

Just my two cents….

I just don’t care about the muscle cars, they will get saved by others. I love to save these cars that no one else does. I’m not looking at this as a money maker. If I can recoup my investment (materials and parts) and make a $5k-10k I will be happy. I just need to stay busy and feel good about saving less desirable cars.

Also considering taking it to Barrett Jackson next spring just for the experience of it. After seeing the cars there my cars are in the top 10% of restoration quality, that surprised the crap out of me.
It’s just not build quality that brings the money at BJ. It’s the cars that are sought by drunken ballers…. :)

And yes the quality of some of the cars at BJ was a real eye opener for me.

I can appreciate that. Let’s revisit this conversation in a year or two. :)

Take care,
Don

I estimated 50% of them would need another $10k of work to make me happy with them.

What I do think will happen is I won’t do the same car twice. Part of the journey I enjoy is learning about the differences in model years as I work on them. I’m already considering just getting the other truck just drivable and flip it. After this much work to fix this one I know everything I want to know about them!

Oh and I have to learn how to actually let them go once I’m done too!
I sold my beloved 69 Camaro last year. I sold it for less than I could have because I didn’t want any whining if it broke. The guy I sold it to got an offer he couldn’t refuse six months later. This is what the new owner did the first day with no insurance. Broke my heart, it was such an awesome car. 600 rwhp in the wrong hands. One year wait for new carbon fiber front clip parts.

They need to go to a home far far away!

One more comment. The more you make the more you have to invest in fancy tools…. :)

Well that sucks. The snowball is accelerating. It was hit in this side and sort of fixed by the same shop in Phoenix that probably put the quarters on the Valiant in the 80s.

Rusty metal removed and now I have to pull this front side to fix the inner fender. Sigh.

One side mostly done. Need to fix the exterior panels before doing much else. Drivers side bad metal is cut out ready for new patches.

No question I am going to have to fabricate these lower sections or all this work is for naught.
