72 Olds W-30

R

Revolver

Been working on this for quite awhile. Finally got it painted yesterday using SPI and Pro Spray.

Had the car on the frame and built, ready to paint, and the owner tells me he wants the factory overspray on the floorpans (top and bottom):mad-new: Fenders, hood, and trunklid are next.

70 -72 W-30, One of the best looking factory hoods ever produced imho. Does it still have the red inner front fender wells ?

This one is actually a "clone", but it will have the red inner fenders. The hood needed plenty of work to make straight. The owner even has a set of the aftermarket Hurst wheels for it. 455/th400. It gets Firefrost gold stripes (at $90 a pint!), a Saddle Tan vinyl top, and dark green interior. Don't think the tan top will look good, but it's not my car lol

You need to talk him out of the vinyl top

Believe me, I've tried. Even offered to lower the cost of the job if he would leave it off or change it to black. Wouldn't budge, had to have the tan top. This car has the most perfect roof. No dents or rust at all. Ran a DA over it and painted it, it's that good.

Tan top no but black would be ok. A friend of mine just picked up a real W30 but the drivetrain is gone. It's always a good idea to paint the doors vertical like they are mounted on the car so the metalics orientate consistent with the quarters and fenders.

I would have preferred to hang them vertical also, but it just wasn't possible at this time. If they look off when I put the car together, i'll spray them again before the stripes go on.
