2K primer question

I bet there's dried buildup in the tip. Try cleaning the tip between coats.

After it barely sprayed, I did that the gun completely apart and tried again before I mixed the new batch..

Again, it didnt bother me really, just got so used to epoxy.

Has to do with one of the types of zinc used in the formula, that's easy to fix, but I want the protection.

Also, pug tips or internal screens will make worse then primers that don't use this type of zinc.

Ah! That explains it. I'll just continue just mixing enough for one coat on large areas. Good to know it's zinc rich.:)

A couple things that helped me. Between coats dump remains back into a mixing cup and rinse the gun with reducer. Before returning mixing cup contents to the gun add roughly 5 percent reducer and thoroughly mix.

I usually overestimated how much I would use and would try to use up what I had. Mixing only 1 coat probably is ideal, especially if you have to wait over 10 minutes between coats.

After reading all the posts I realized my process is different than most. I only mix one cup of 2k primer at a time while spraying.
Rinse the gun with reducer and wipe tip clean after first coat so nothing is sitting in the cup or gun during flash time.

Again, the "slower is faster" mantra proves itself.

I bought a Sata poly gun that has a 2.5 tip that is the best gun for poly that I have used. Tried it with Turbo and it sprayed out very nice including the second coat.

I really like how versatile the Turbo is. On regular jobs and spot priming, I usually mix it 4:1:1 and spray 3 coats with a 1.3 Tekna or even a 1.0 touch up gun. On larger areas and restoration, I use a 1.8 mixed 4:1, or sometimes the 2.3 Vapor, especially if it is warm. A little retarder really helps in the summer.
