Is there a reason to spray 2K Primer over epoxy in areas that wont be blocked and sanded?
Back side of front fender? Engine bay? wheel wells? etc?
Thanks,
Ken

If you aren't going to paint them, no. If you are going to paint those areas then 2k has to be sanded before topcoat. If not topcoating then epoxy alone would be the better choice.

OK that confuses me more. Epoxy, 2k, epoxy as a sealer, paint is ok but epoxy, paint is not?
Those areas wont be seen and would be harder sand, why not skip the 2k?

I think what elwood is saying is that you can leave areas like that in epoxy alone. Epoxy is an incredibly tough product and it can be the final coating on suspension parts, frames, engine bays, etc. - parts that are not exposed to sunlight. If you want to paint those parts though, yes, you can go straight from epoxy to base/clear or single stage. Of course, let the epoxy sit overnight first and then spray within the recoat window. For instance, the underside of my wheel wells, bed, and cab are black epoxy.

The only reason to use 2K in your situation is if you need to get the panel straight and/or coat over filler. You can also use epoxy over filler, it just takes a little longer to dry before sanding. You have to sand epoxy or 2K that has been applied over filler or it will flash and show through.

OK that's what I had hoped, that it was a step that wasn't needed for what I am trying to do. My thoughts were to paint the inside of the fenders and leave the wheel wells in black epoxy.
Thanks Guys
