'68 Coronet R/T
Oldtimer
As if I don't have enough to do I decided to paint my bike.
I had it apart to install gear driven camshafts and bearings. My fuel tank has a dent in it from the original owner but he had a brand new tank, still in the bubble plastic, for a price I couldn't refuse.
Here's my bike in the condition I bought it:
The DENT
Damage on bat wing fairing and saddlebags:
Just the latch hinge cover is $65 in good used condition:
Lots of dirt:
After a good cleaning:
I decided to paint it solid black and get rid of the pin stripes.
That meant sanding the brand new gas tank and repainting it.
This is SPI Black base coat and their Euro Clear as sprayed:
Wet sanded with 2000, buffed with Megs 105 & 205:
Comparison of H.D. vivid black (old tank) and SPI black:
When I do the side covers I will show another comparison of the blacks.
