2 kits of universal I cant see it

My painter told me I need to order 2 kits of clear I just cant see it 4 gallons sprayable on a car. Well before we jump the gun the car will be two toned and pinstriped and airbrushed and he told me I would not feel anything in the paint. the car midway down will be orange with 2 coats of clear with pearl in it including the 2 door jambs and 2 ralley stripes of pearl. Then the black top with no pearl so now 4 coats of clear over the whole thin. then cut down air brushed and pinstriped then 4 more coats of clear. then cut and buffed. He is also painting under the hood and the bottom of the trunk lid. I still dont see 4 gallons but hey I dont paint. Does any body see any issues with that plan.

can he do more coats if he bakes between sessions like 4 coats with 30 minute flash between coats bake than some more clear. He has done several cars for me before but has never used this much clear.

Sounds like he has the plan and yes he may have a quart left over when he is done but it would be costly if he was a quart short on the job and you had to stop and wait for more clear.

Question, Could the painter use intercoat for the pearl applications and cut down on the amount of clear? Is there an advantage to using catalyzed clear for all these layers as opposed to base coat? Reliability etc?

Just the opposite, useing clear gives to much build and reduces integrity.
Useing intercoat is better, keeps it thinner

Yeah talked to him its 2 coats with pearl then 4 coats to bury the 2 tone and stripes then wetsand air brush pinstripe and 4 more coats then cut and buff.

10 coats is nowhere near unreasonable for a job like that. unless its 1 color, most of my stuff starts at 10 coats and goes up from there.
