Here is my latest project. 1979 Camaro z28, full race car (25.3 spec). 9,000 original mile so no rust!!!!!

But lots of glass parts now, lol.

Car is going to be a GM silver(pro spray, thanks Chad!) toped off with UV Clear.

I am going to put all of the factory stripes back on but they will be in a 2 tone carbon fiber effect.

Starting point:

The gaps were horrible where they set the glass parts on so I am in the process now of re-doing all of the mount brackets to get them all squared away. Overall the glass parts are really nice and after some work they line up nice!

The fuel cell is in the very front of the car, so the front cover has to come off every pass. I decided to split the fenders so my paint job doesnt get destroyed.

This looks like its going to be a great thread.. awesome car and work!!

If you don't charge the owner to much, maybe he can afford to buy some new rear tires with tread on them!

Keep the pictures coming, it looks like a fun project to follow along.

When you're glassing in steel reinforcement plates it's best to epoxy the steel first, the resins really don't like to adhere well to bare steel and over time expansion and contraction can loosen the bond, if you have enough glass encapsulating them they can't come out but they can loosen up if there's a lot of movement.

This car will be nice for about a month after its completed. I'll be shocked if they keep it up. The front end has to come off after every pass. I'll just be sure to take a lot of pics before it leaves!

Well most of the fast cars look good the day they roll out and it's all down hill from there . Unless you put brackets on the outside of your trailer to hold the front end and doors etc. Or else it's going on the ground and then it will turn into a work bench. And dont forget about all the stickers that go on and off every event. I hope they take care of it...nice job cant wait to see more

Some weekend progress: Epoxy down, G2 going down tonight. rechecked all of my gaps one last time before ripping it apart.

Some progress from last night. I smoothed out the underside of the door where I added the extension.

Gonna wash the front end and epoxy and poly it also. I had originally planned on just doing a scuff and shoot on the engine bay, but the owner started doing his own bodywork before I got the car so I have to clean that up abit.

That bracket welded to the subframe near the spring hole-is that for a suspension limiter? Cable setup?

Yep. they have chain limiters on it.
