Mopar Nut
It looks good in the photos but far from good enough.... The shape is there but there is a lot of work to do.
Dang, that was fast!
Great job........
Now don't be a tease, please elaborate on what your going to do to fix the oil canning on the door.
I'm truly interested!
...... first I run a straight edge to find where the high spot is that is bulging. I then cut it with a cutoff wheel down the center of the high spot. I then weld the slot back closed. The welding will pull the cut closed enough to shrink it. I then make a futile attempt at planishing the weld and call it done. It is lower than the rest now so filler can solve the rest of it....
Yes. I think i know where your going.@JimKueneman , do you have a stud welder gun?
I'm absolutely not being critical, just wanted to suggest you look into a shrinking tip for the gun. It's what i use 99% of the time now to pull in stretched metal. Very controllable, easy setup, virtually no fire danger, sparks, arcs, etc. It's worth a try!Yes. I think i know where your going.
Completely agree and it never crossed my mind. Excellent idea.I'm absolutely not being critical, just wanted to suggest you look into a shrinking tip for the gun. Filling my cranium with so much knowledge my head is going to explode.
Great information.
Why I love this site. Real professionals who do thing correct and willing to share.
I am far from an expert here. I am a studentI agree but, I like hearing how others go about an issue ( I hate the word problem, lol) ...... that's why I asked you to elaborate on your issue fix. I had seen a car roof that was oil canning and it was fixed by gluing paint sticks to the underside. I didn't think that was the best fix but, it worked.
There is more than one way to skin a cat.
