1960 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE BIG PROJECT

This was his car. We painted it here at my house. It had a 2017 LT in 2019. Not alot of cars had that drivetrain at that time. It had a fully molded powdercoat frame, chromed suspension and a 44 inch moonroof out of 80s lincoln vintage air, Dakota. Power seat tilt all the exterior aluminum was chrome plated.. It was a well built car . He sold it and it ended up in Seattle, then it went to new jersey I think. He named it the red rocket

on an LT everything will pass over the bus. I’m assuming you are running a GM ECM. They have a different version for Holley.

Yes the original ECM. I sent it to a guy in Missouri. And he is doing whatever he does to it, and built me a harness from scratch. Should arrive any day

Started mocking up the steering column. Got it all in there with the brake pedal assembly. Then realized the firewall pad should go first...uh..

I've told my wife before you're not perfect. She said yes he is......... so after you posted about not being perfect, I ran over to my wife with phone in hand and said, here read this......he's not perfect.

She read what you posted, handed back my phone and said........

......... his car is painted and almost done, your Barracuda is still in its 1st coat of highbuild. That makes him perfect.

38 years of her abuse. I can't wait to go for a drive in my freshly painted Barracuda, by myself !

Got a load of powdercoat back. Bumper brackets included. So I installed the bulk of the continental kit yesterday. Glad to get more parts out of the house, and put 2 more boxes in the burn barrel! This is a 59 continental kit modified to fit a 60. You have to cut the bumper ends to fit, also have to cut the lower valances to fit. Install wasn't hard. Just time consuming so not to damage the chrome quality and manufacturing is excellent. Continental enterprise based in Canada. They make kits for over 100 cars. I don't want to put the painter face plate and chrome band on yet. Still work to do in the trunk and I think It will be in the way. Just mocked the wheel and tire to make sure it fits. I hear the faceplate can be a pain. So I want to put it on only 1 time.

Wow. That looks great. Almost to the finish line.
I need gas tank ($700), driveshaft ($500-700), 6 batteries for the hydraulics ($800), and probably another misc 500-1000 under the hood and a few more weekends and it should be about done. This car has been quite a financial endeavor. You can't order anything for these cars for less than several hundred dollars. Sometimes way more. I'm limping to the finish line

I understand completely. My '68 GTX is a one year only species and finding accurate and affordable parts is very difficult.
Sent my tail panel, tail lights and horn ring to a chrome shop 9 months ago. The shop I sent them to didn't think they could do the job properly so they sent them to another shop, who also refused to work on them and sent them back to the first shop. Last week UPS dropped off the package I sent out 9 months ago, with my parts still wrapped as I sent them and in the same condition I sent them out.

The places that list them for sale all have a note that they are back ordered with no ETA for availability. I may have to learn how to chrome plate them myself.

Put some work in yesterday. About 8hrs worth. Made an adjustable pedal bracket (low tech science hackery), got it. Mounted with firewall pad, and steering column is in place
