1937 Packard

For english wheel? I'm going to probably buy a bench top metal ace to start with.

A lot of guys use harbor freight for budget, it's on sale now for $300.00, get a 20% off coupon and it's $240..
Very hard to beat for the money.

Another option is to buy this guys wheels, which are smaller and build your own

Probably all a hobbyist really needs.. I'm going to be building one of his power hammers soon as well.

used, pexto is always a good brand, my brake is a old chicago, can't remember shear brand but it's a pexto knock off, can use all pexto parts, Check out woodwardfab.com, if i'm looking for new I always browse there. but honestly be patient and search craigslist, that's what i've done.
But with power hammers you don't find them on there.

if anyone is looking for a good box & pan brake, chenk enco. if you sign up for email, they will send 10-15% off codes & free shipping codes often. i caught my brake on sale, had a 15% off plus free shipping code they had sent & got it to my door for right at $400.

I have a Metal ace Bench top and a Metal ace 44" , both are great wheels with lots of lower wheels available. Nice job on the Packard to get back on topic.

I originally was planning on buying a bigger wheel, but I have a lot of learning to do before I really need a big one.

I use the bench top more than the big one. I bought the big one in 1997. Never saw one in person, so I opted for the big u-weld it kit. I do use it , but most of the patch panels I make I use the bench top.

Chad, are those factory door hinges? decklid hinges you made? nice interior!

Nope, all of the hinges are factory, although the fronts are not very adjustable, and the rears are not really heavy enough for all the weight, when we got it in the whole wooden subframe for the trunk hinges was broke. And the wood frame part of the trunk was also broken. way to much weight in that area.

Been a bit of progress since I last posted on this one.
It's also running, hoping to take it on it's first test drive by the end of the year.
Here's a few pics to get this up to date.

Hi Bob,

That is the anti-thief proof number.

This is where the VEHICLE NUMBER or also know as Packard Patent Plate
is located on.

Hi Chad,

I seeing you are moving right along.

I can't really tell by the pictures is that in white epoxy yet or is that the color of the car?

Yea, going to put the plate on the firewall soon, leaving that original though, it's a little rusty looking but customer likes it just as it is.

That's the car color, it's a off white that he picked.
Car is out right now for exhaust and alignment, then back for assembly.

The clock is ticking. Autorama is right around the corner.

And nobody would steel a car with a stamped number on it. Lol.

Wow Chad, you do incredible work! What a beautiful car. I love the creamy white color too. Very classy.
