I did search for this before posting but had no luck. I don't usually work on plastic that much. This is my 1996 Z28 that I've had for 24 years. Repainting and need advice on these emblems. Best way to take them off for reuse, or just leave them on and paint since it's all black anyways? Thanks guys

Very difficult to remove and reuse them. When I worked collision, we would always replace as they are thin, they stretch when they are being removed and double sided tape doesn't work when replacing them. Using DS will make it look very off/weird/crappy. Plan on getting new ones is the most realistic answer. If you do try to remove them, warm them some with a heat gun then use a razor blade to get under the emblem and peel (not really the right word) it off. Scrape it off may fit better. If successful you could try some contact cement of some sort. Emblem adhesive used very lightly, but usually the result is not satisfactory.

I was kinda afraid of that. I'm not making a show car out of it, just refreshing it. I may leave them on, use a little adpro and just paint them.

Key to reusing them would be warming them enough with the heat gun and cleanly getting under them with the razor blade. Don't pull on them, just push it off with the razor blade. Then use some 3M emblem adhesive spread very thin. If you put that stuff on their the slightest bit thick it will ooze out the edges of the emblem. Wait as long as possible as well, cause emblem adhesive will attack fresh paint.

If the emblem is rigid then you can re-use. Was thinking they were the vinyl/rubber type but not 100% on that.

Link to part number Crash shared.

I think it's rigid but not 100% sure. Haven't really examined it close yet.
