Hello everyone,
and i know its a bad question but still... need help with this.
Painting around 3 cars a day, used finish1, matrixms78, clear coat, and next week we finally get SPI CLEAR. Looking at euro 2020 and production. have a good booth with a good compressor and bake system.
right now spraying with lph400 and w400 bellaria.
last week tried sata rp 5500 o nozzle and understood that its time for new clear gun.
im not a sata fan, but that 5500rp really impressed me. heard that "I"pattern is even better.
but also looking at ws400 and prolite.
all this guns in the same price range around 500$-700$. so im not sure and no place where to try ws400 and prolite.
ws400 i see as a better bellaria(wich i love a lot but it still behind 5500).
gti pro lite many utubers call as the best clear gun
HELP

Best clear gun I have ever used is the Sata 5000 RP hands down. But I'm a Sata guy. That's what I learned to spray with many years ago and really all I've ever used (for clear). What is your style? Are you fast with your passes or slower. Fast pass guys like the Sata, Slower pass guys like the Iwata's. I like a wet full pattern and the Sata gives that plus great atomization. Iwata aren't as full or wet so they work better with guys that like to move slower. Keep in mind too that with high solids clears you want to be doing around 75% overlap on your passes regardless of what gun you are using.
I'm sure the Iwata guys here will give you their thoughts too.

If I’m not mistaken the Pro Lite you mention is the same as the Tekna clearcoat gun, yellow body. I have both the RP 5500 and the Tekna, the RP I’m using it with a 1.2 I, had the 1.3 in it and still was getting a bit too much urethane wave with it even with the trigger chocked in.

The Tekna seems to put out more material and can move faster than the SATA, finish wise I like the 5500 better when doing smaller jobs. If doing a complete I’d probably lean towards the Tekna for speed but still can lay down the clear nice and flat.

I had the WS400 and gave it to a young painter that buys a ton of SPI clear from me, I had it in 1.4 and I really do miss that gun, will probably buy it again soon. It probably sprays a bit flatter than both Tekna and RP 5500 but it’s more finicky to adjust than the other two guns.

If you like the O nozzle in the 5500 I’d probably stick with it cause the ‘I’ will definitely spray different, not necessarily better, I guess it all depends on how fast you like to move and what kind of overlap you like to spray at.

thanks for advising. so looks like these guns are best guns and around same high level and there is no one best gun. probably will stick to iwata since i sprayed for 7 years with lph400 and like how bellaria sprays clear and for base i still use lph lvb and also recently bought ls400 gold for base coat.
so should i get 1.3 or 1.4 on ws400?
i need to paint 2-3 cars a day but need the minimum orange peel since we do not buff anything
