What grit for hand sanded areas?

Most every thing I have read on the forum says to sand the surface with 80 grit on a DA sander, before spraying epoxy primer. On areas that you hand sand do you stay with the 80 or go with something different ? The car is a 73 corvette and old paint is removed.
