Two Tone Paint Tips

I stock that in the store but don't use it for that, works good on glass though.. have to try on wrinkles.. lol..

I use the blue scott towels for wiping, I to get a little lint but go over everything with a tack cloth a few times before spraying, the really nice towels are rediculously priced imo.

Sik,

At $3.50 for 19 ounces, it's about 6 cents cheaper than SPI Waterborne ($24.00 for 128 ounces = 0.1875 [per ounce] x 19=$3.56). Of course, the SPI is delivered to my house for free so the cost is probably a wash.

I've never noticed Sprayway in my local stores but I'll keep an eye out for it. I am always looking for glass cleaners that don't leave any film. Windex is horrible so I use my own concoction: 1/3 rubbing alcohol, 1/3 white vinegar and 1/3 water. The alcohol cuts the wax, the vinegar cuts the minerals (salts) and the water cuts the dog tongue prints.

The wrinkle thing is interesting -- at my age no one notices the wrinkles in my clothes -- I might try a section of my body that doesn't normally show.

bob, i use a crap load of spi waterborne cleaner but when it comes to airbrushing, as sik knows that kind of work is very delicate. the spi waterborne as well as just about anything else will wipe alot of the stuff right off....its just too strong. in the shop here i am using kc-20 which is really nothing more than water with a very light detergent in it and it wont harm delicate artwork. i have in the shaop at all times atleast a half dozen w&g removers or cleaners of all different strengths to remove anything from a fingerprint on airbrush work to heavy adhesive and overspray. you always gotta have something of exactly the right strength so you can get off what you need to get off without harming whats underneath.

Nothing wrong with saving money on the basic stuff, there's a lot of people that mix primers/paints in soup cans-it does the job. Jim C turned me on to the graduated prescription cups for small airbrush sized mixes and I've been using them for a few years now. I'm going to email a link to this thread so my friend can see someone else likes the sprayway for prepaint cleaner-he should get a kick out of that. I use regular nonprinted paper towels, been doing it for years, I always dust it off afterwards with air and use a tack rag and I'd do that same with premium towels as well.

I know that can!. That brand has been around forever, I never paid attention before. I bought some and tried it today. Worked like a charm. Haven't tried it to magically iron wrinkles out of my tuxedo though.

must be nice to have access to the good stuff. the only legal solvent wax and grease i can get it is the spray can version. coast still has a couple solvents ones, then i have the waterbased kind and spray way. totally agree with u on diff. types. last week i had some miss tapes on a set i didnt backmask. and only had waterbased, no solvent, so i had to spot the area (silver), if i had solvent as u know, i could have wiped it off since i had enuff intercoat on. oh well.

if u guys want to get another laugh... i was in a pinch for reducer one time (was waiting to finish one of two jobs to get paid, anyone whos self employed knows what im talking about) and it was after the jobbers closed. well i gave auto zone's rustoleum specialty reducer a try. at 17 bucks. i was atleast getting a decent gun cleaner. lol. sure enuff it worked, and i got through a couple jobs. not bad for the price most pay for gun cleaner. lol

Well another solution for you, goto home depot and get a gal of the kleenstrip mineral spirits. Its about as gentle as waterbased cleaner. Get yourself 5 different bottles. Fill each bottle 3/4 with the spirits then in each bottle mix in some reducer making each bottle stronger than the last. Maybe, 2oz in one then 4 in the next and so on. Number the bottles to keep the in order. Youll be able to get off exactly what you need to.

voc's

i used like dx330, but thats been non compliant for a few years now.

coast has alot of stuff that technically isnt compliant, but since they ship it out and have it for non-automotive use it worksout. gotta love them for that.

i can get some decent shit at auto zone. the restuleom wax and tar remover is pretty strong.
