We have sprayed out samples of our SPI #1050 Bedliner available to ship out with your order or we can drop one in the mail. They are "stand alone" meaning there isn't a backer plate which the sample is attached to. This way you can see how strong and flexible the product is by itself.

Just let us know if you need one.....

I'd like to recommend this bedliner. I sprayed 4 gallons a few weeks ago on the underside of a car and I was pleased. I reduced it about 20% since I wanted flow. I was able to do the entire underside and keep it wet looking. I then did the underhood area body color using an astro spray gun with a 2.0 tip. I reduced it 20% again and 4 coats gained a light orange peeled surface with little texture. Since this was my first run with spi liner my only complaint was all the stirring since I was mixing a quart at a time and experimenting. I peeled a chunk off a saw horse left from the astro gun with 4coats and I was very impressed with the durability. SEM is the only other one I have used and I was never that happy with it. Time will tell if it's as durable as the linex in my truck now but it sure looks a lot better. I'm going to replace the tailgate soon and I'll use SPI to make the line x look worse than it does. Thanks for another great product!

I believe I spoke with you on the phone about this application.....I'm glad you're pleased!

Thats right you did Andy. You walked me through using the geo gun and helped get the consistency I wanted. I still liked the Astro gun for spraying it smooth as the slight fan pattern kept the consistency better than the geo but the film thickness isn't there unless you really pile it on. Four coats through the astro netted about 1/16" and I couldn't tear the sample piece. The sem or herculiner would have torn easilly. Thanks again!

4 gal that's a lot of material. We have sprayed a couple of Mustangs and sprayed 2 coats and used 1 gal on each.

I used 1 gallon and didn't even have the first coat done. I had a lot of surface area though as it was a 356 porsche so the pan, engine bay, fenderwells were all covered. That last 1/2 gallon covered the front trunk area. I've never been a real conservationist when it comes to materials usage. For some reason when somebody say's they used a gallon, I'd always use two. I think the lizard skin gun I have would spray really nice as it has a lot bigger orifice than the geo. Then I'd probably really use some product. I'll post some pics when I figure it out. I like to click a pic and drag the file. This stuff with the url is more than me as I'm just not that into comp technology. Nice pictures Rusty. I reduced mine out as I didn't want the heavier texture.

I have been thinking about doing this to my Mustang, but have been struggling with the texture. I would like to have a smoother finish and possibly tint it to look more like the red oxide look that 68 Mustangs originally received. So by reducing it by 20% + another 20% and spraying through a 2mm tip gun you got a slight orange peel?
How is the durability of this? The car I am working on will be an occasional driver and won't need to be extremely durable.
And as far as tinting, reading the spec sheet it says to use automotive tints, being a painting noob, are these available at local jobbers?

We sprayed 3 coats on the undercarriage of a 67 Fairlane and the outside fender aprons and still did not use a full gal using the gun Barry suggests.

Im going to get that same set up Rusty.. Buy the gun and bedliner all at once from SPI.. I need to do the wheel tubs on this Camero now and I thought the bedliner would look better and hold up better than generic rubberized undercoating that comes in a can!!!
