Will it stand up to the heat? I've read some posts in other forums where guys use epoxy under their engine color.

Yes, it will work great. The temps of an engine block don't even come close to what epoxy can take. Try welding something with epoxy on it....it doesn't burn back much at all.

I have spi epoxy on several engine blocks. No problems after years of use.

OK, Thanks for the quick reply.

I've been using it for years on engines also. Topcoat with a catalyzed enamel or urethane system for best results. I've never base/cleared an engine but I've used a lot of Centari enamel and Emron.

In the spring of 2010, I painted my Jeep's block and head with the epoxy (2 coats) using a brush. Ran the Jeep for about 500 miles and had a cam bearing failure so I had to pull it and rebearing the block - metal everywhere. The guy at the machine shop loved the look of the epoxy and when I went back to pick up the block, he commented on how tough it was. Been driving the Jeep every day since the re-install and the block looks just like it did on the first day. So, no complaints from my experience.
