After 2 header panels this one has the least amounf of damage. I ground the cracked area down and feathered it out. I'm new to SMC glassing so I am curius what would be the best way to repair this? Its a hairline crack about 4" long and all the way through.

I have no idea what the answer is to your question, but I remember a thread somewhere that andyk explained smc repairs based on his experience of fixing a lot of jetskis.

My only idea would be to grind the backside, reinforce it with the smc resin and matt, fill and level top with 870?

Taper the crack out more and use matt on both sides of the repair, on the exterior finish it off leaving the matt low enough to allow a coat of 870 for finishing it off.

yup the materials aren't cheap, I'm fixing a junk Harwood hood right now but it's regular glass. First hood was shipped without enough lip to mount the front moulding (68-72 nova). So then it was returned, second one came in the same way. By the time I'm done fixing the mistakes on this thing, fitting it, modifying the edge so it fits with the fender bumpers, trimming the scoop so it fits the cowl and blocking.... way to much time invested for this part to work right when it could have been corrected in the mold design.
