Sealer use

Please forgive me if this question has been asked before. In the catalog under the 2K regular build primer, it says "A sealer is not required for this primer prior to painting." It doesn't say that on the 2K high build primer page, or the Turbo 2K high build primer page. I'm wondering if those two primers require a sealer. I'm planning to use the Turbo 2K on a complete paint job, block sanding with 500 grit, and would rather not have to seal it.

2K urethane primers sanded with 400-600, are not required prior to base or single stage. Some advantages of a sealer coat before base include sand scratches showing, one even sealer coat helping coverage before base, and adhesion (especially epoxy) with less rock chips. One thin epoxy coat before base is worth it, IMO.

Thanks for the reply! I've always used the wet-on-wet sealer method in the past, but this time because of the cold outside temps (and my advanced age :) ) I just want to eliminate that step on paint day. Taking into consideration what you said, I think I'll go over it the day before with one coat of epoxy, thinned as recommended as a sealer, then do the color and clear the next day. The epoxy will also take care of a few minor sanding breakthroughs, which are bound to happen. Will block sand with 400 instead of 500.
