Sand and buff 2 year old Universal clear?

I have been painting my car in pieces and have a few pieces (lower fenders and cowl) that have been sitting stored inside for about 2 years. I applied 6 coats (3 coats then sand then 3 more) of universal clear on them. Should I still be able to successfully sand and buff the UV clear after this much time? The clear on these pieces has always been stored inside and never seen the sun (of course there is no sun oustside in Seattle ever anyways).

All clears get harder over time, which is good news and bad news. The bad news is that it becomes harder to remove color sanding scratches, so it pays to step out your sanding grits to the finest you can obtain, 2500 or even 3000. The good news is that the harder the clear is, the easier it is to maintain a high gloss shine once you've achieved it, the same hardness that makes the clear hard to buff also makes it harder to hairline scratch with towels, etc.

So don't worry about the buffing. Be patient, and do what it takes to get the scratches out. You'll be rewarded at the end!

That UV clear will buff just fine, take your sanding to 2000 or 2500 or 3000 and it'll buff excellent.

That sounds great......I plan on using some 3M trizact 3000 discs in my sanding process.....so it sounds like I will make it out ok. Thanks.
