the owner of the SPI Vette has decided to sell it . he's won best of show or first place at at all the shows hes been in so the excitement has waned some. you can only show a car so many times unless you want to travel the country with it. he has moved on to wanting to dive them instead of show them. he still has several other cars to drive . he just feels it is too nice to turn into a driver. so if if any of your customers are into them it is for sale. his plan is to place it in the Mecum auction in sept 2013 at dallas.

going to miss this car . it was a blast to build and my first real test of spi products. 1957 Vette_11846-32 2.jpg

i've worked on many show cars over the years. after a year or two you've won all the shows and it just gets to be a hassle to haul to the shows for nothing. many of the show guys i know build a new car every few years. i did cars for one guy who traveled the country showing. it was his thing and he showed one while the next was being built.
this one is just too nice to start driving. hard choice to make when the value is that high.

Takes time, money, and passion to travel all over to shows.

That car will pull high dollar at mecum. The older corvettes seem to gain a lot more than other cars. I have a buddy that just painted a 67 corvette that has been in peices for thirty years. The owner took it apart and was restoring peice by peice. The car in peices was appraised at $300,000 one of five ever built. It was a green. Don't remember exact color.

i expect it will go to the 150 range or better. a 61 restomod sold for 150 at houston this year.
these are all i will do in the future . just no money in hotrods any more. and at 61 i'm too damn slow to make it anyway :)
