RTI-MR1 and Iwata AK-1R2 regulators

Are the same.

I've got both of them sitting in front of me, I have my Iwata AK-1R2 that's on my LPH400, and I have a new RTI MR-1 that I just picked up for a Sata 5000 B RP that I ordered.

I was curious if the weight and size of the 2 are similar. Well, the 2 are more than just "similar", they are identical. Only difference is the gauge face and the color of the adjustment knobs.

Seriously, they are obviously the same. The regulator body is identical, the bottom side of each has the identical markings, words etc.

I suppose I am just late to the party in realizing this, But I thought I'd point it out anyways. :)

I see the iwata at autobody toolmart for $60.99 and TCP global has the RTI for $49.96

I do also notice that Iwata must have a different (maybe older?) diaphragm regulator called AK-1R (rather than AK-1R2) and it does appear different than these 2.

But the AK-1R2 and the RTI-MR1 are identical.

I have a couple of these from ATD on my primer guns. They are about 25 bucks on Amazon, advertised as 25 SCFM with max inlet of 250 psi.

They do work fine for me, but they are a little heavier than the RTI and Iwata regulators, plus the gauge reads 0-125 and the gauge face is plastic.

Oh, and they don't come with the swivel fitting on the gun side so I have them mounted direct to the reg body. This makes them shorter but the regulator can get in the way for your wrist, you have to turn it just right to be able to make the gun lay flat for horizontal sprays like roof, hood etc.

RTI must make the reg for Iwata. Some hi-flow fittings might help-they seem to help any full sized gun to varying degrees but my LPH400LV isn't as air hungry as some guns. If you've got fittings on both ends of the hose the difference is more noticeable.

I did pick up a pile of hi flow fittings today as well. they will be going in all of my guns, on my booth air hose and my wall coupler in the booth.

:)
