Hey total noob here!
So I've sinned and broken 4 out of the first 5 things told not to do. I had no idea the mistakes I was making when I did them.
*Never use a rust converter of any kind. NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. (Klean-Strip Rust Converter)
*Never clean metal or paint with lacquer thinner. **This one I haven't done!**
*Never use a metal prep UNLESS you are fully aware of how to neutralize properly. (I sprayed and wiped the rust treated area with "Prep-All")
*Never use an acid etch primer, unless you are doing used car work for a dealer or rental car work. (I sprayed "Metal Etch Primer" over the rust treated areas)
*Never even look at an aerosol can of primer. (This is where the Prep-All and Metal Etch Primer came from)
So in an effort to head in the right direction, I ordered a gallon of SPI Epoxy Primer/activator. But how do I best back up and start again. I've only done the rain gutter, floor and 1 qtr panel. It's a VW Bus so there is plenty of surface area left to do. But I want to do it right.
Thanks in advance for steering me in the right direction,
