Newbie discovery for gun cleaning...

Most paint stores offer wash thinner at around $35-$40 for a five gallon pail. Works fine-just give it a small slosh of reducer when you are done. I use aresol paint stripper on the exterior once in awhile as needed and rinse with lacquer thinner-no problems.

I was going to post this as well. Cleaner grade lacquer thinner in 5 gallon buckets is the way to go. I save the cleaner rinse thinner to be used for the initial rinse on the next round.

Bob, where do you buy your wash thinner? 5 gallons for around $40 bucks.... im in. Which paint stores, as I am paying a lot more for single gallons for their cheapest laquers thinners(times 5). Note I am in California, and maybe its an anomaly for me to get some basic wash thinner cheaply in 5 gallon increments.

Most jobbers around here (Virginia) sell it for less than $40. You being in California probably changes things up. But you'll always find a better price on the stuff at the jobber and buying in 5 gallons or more. We get it in 55 gallon drums which helps cut the cost alot. One thing you'll always pay a lot more at places like Lowes, Home Depot etc than at your Paint jobber.

As far as an aerosol cleaner, I really like the Sems XXX gun cleaner. I use it for my air cap and fluid tip. It's a little pricey if you pay shipping, so work it in with other orders. I get it from O'reilly's at about $12 a can. I still like to run a splash of reducer through as a final wash using the squirt bottles. The Sems will really cleans the cup well also.
