Hi,
I have a 1989 Dodge dually pick-up. I have taken it down to bare metal.
The body work is about done and it is very straight.
Yes, I did my filler over the metal, but it is done so now so I will deal with it.
I am getting very close to needing the primer.IMG_0465_zps01c14398.JPG

What should I use from SPI? “turbo 2-K”? or something else?
I plan to put enough coats on to block sand it all out. Like I said the body is very well done at this time. It should not need much sanding.

How much product (PRIMER) for one coat and I can times that by how many coats I need.

Next I thought I would use “WANDA” for my base. I base that decision on what I have read on this forum.
How much for 3 coats of WANDA? Or how do I figure it?
I understand that "dutchman" sells WANDA I need him to contact me or if someone has a better idea please share it with me.

I want to do a light blue color which SPI does not sell...is that correct?
I plan to use a SS with the last coat mixed 50% base. & 50% clear..I think Barry suggested that..correct?

Does anyone see a possible “fly in the ointment” with my plan.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, Hi looks like you will need to get some epoxy and turbo 2k. Spray two coats epoxy 30 minutes apart and let it set overnight. You will need two kits of turbo 2k if you want to put at least 3 coats on your truck. I really doubt you can get 3 coats on it with only one gal. good luck and don't be afraid to ask when in doubt or give Barry a call. have fun . Joe

Thanks Joe,
I have received a lot of help on this forum. I don't post often as I am afraid I will ask or say something stupid and I don't want to look like a dufis.:)

Would it be just as well to use the epoxy primer instead of the turbo 2K?
I was told somewhere that with extra coats I could do that. The truck body is pretty straight.

FYI, I am apprehensive to using SLICK SAND because I heard you have 30 minutes ...then it is like a rock. I don't need that kind of pressure.

Does "1 kit" = 1 gal including hardener etc?

Doug, Hi no problem with asking here. We all want to see you get the best results possible. So nothing wrong with asking questions. Yes I would epoxy first and let set overnight. Pay attention to your overnight temps and what temp it stays inside of shop. You will need kit wise gal epoxy, gal epoxy activator, turbo 2k,turbo primer activator and also some urethane reducer for temp needed. Turbo primer will better suit your situation than slicksand if it's warm and your short on time. Joe

Thanks NovaB. I talked to Barry.
U ALL are very helpful:)
