My next repair, more advice needed

Hey guys, getting ready to install the trunk pan in my 72. When blasting I uncovered some rot and its kinda unusual ( At least to me ). It looks like its the weld itself that is where the rot is, but I guess I will not know until I grind it down some. I almost forgot about this until I noticed it tonight while looking everything over. Here is the pic of the repair needed. Its at the rear shackle / frame rail.

Here is a pic of the way I plan to setup the car.

I'm thinking about reinstalling the bar between the two frame rails, supporting the car on the jack stands at the front of the frame rails, then remove the bottom of the 1/4 for access ( the complete 1/4 will be removed at a later time when I get the door back on the car), I then can remove the shackle, grind the weld with one of those cone burr bits and re-weld.

What do you guys think. It will be easier to repair at this stage without the trunk pan in the way. I guess my concern is I have the car cut down a bit, but the trunk pan has been off and on more times than I can count and everything is still lining back up. I don't want to chance messing the alignment up.

Thanks for the help.
